The Medjugorje publisher, Information Centre ‘Mir Medjugorje,’ have been committed to the radical redesign of their books to reintroduce their texts to a contemporary audience. Authors Fr. Slavko Barbarić, Fr. Ante Vučković, Marie-Helene Mathieu-Jean Vanier and Jacques Philippe cover themes such as prayer, interior freedom, and peace of heart. These books are particularly valuable to anyone looking for moral and spiritual guidance in today’s modern world. This gave our team the appropriate inspiration for each cover design. Shift was charged with creating the cover redesign and layout for a series of books. The main goal of the rebranding process was to improve appeal and interaction with modern readers who require a new approach to visual communication. Page after page of profound words on prayer showed the direction the new design should take. The process of redesign, however, requires the designer to be curious about these new readers. The publisher’s team, Information Centre Mir Medjugorje, wanted to create an identity that had clarity and universal appeal. We found the inspiration for this project in the books themselves; for the cover design SBD used photography that matched the title-content, also we used a special colour to identify books by topic. The final design emphasizes the products' timelessness; we created a design that was both unique and also accentuating the spiritual side.
