New visual identity of a well-known Mostar restaurant

The well-known Mostar restaurant Urban grill, located within the area of the old town, has made a conceptual turn in its business. Focusing on the excellence in their offering and on what the guests have already gladly appreciated, the management of the restaurant has set the goal of combining the best of our local - and oriental cuisine. In this direction, the name of the restaurant was also changed, which is now called Urban - Taste of Orient

The new visual identity is inspired by local architecture where the concepts of "urban" meets the "oriental" and the adventure begins! Seemingly incompatible, but still achievable, as we can be seen through specific elements of the architecture of the city of Mostar. Already, more than a hundred years ago, local architects brought this theme to life— reconciling the elements of Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian architecture in the most famous buildings in Mostar.

Also, considering that this restaurant has by far the best view of the Old Bridge, it was essential that the brand reflected the environment as well, so we have incorporated the contours of the Old Bridge into the new logo. As a result, Shift combined those most basic elements to create a logotype that's as simple and inspirational as the beautiful city itself and the view of the restaurant. All these requirements eventually gave birth to a completely new typography that is above all modern but contains elements of decoration from Islamic calligraphy. For the needs of this project, we constructed the new font so that we could express ourselves through the shapes of the letters themselves and so that we could get elements that will later be used in the form of a decorative raster that, together with the logo and color, forms a complete visual system.The new color palette is the emerald color of the Neretva and red elements inspired by the spices of oriental cuisine, which appear precisely in the details. This color combination stands out form other restaurants in the surrounding area and gives a contemporary look and feel.

As part of the visual identity redesign project, our designers created a book of graphic standards, which combines elements of business correspondence, interior design and standardization of digital appearance on social networks. In addition, this visual identity served perfectly for the creation of various unique souvenirs for the restaurant, and the interesting but also expected implementation / performance of the logo in a copper engraving made by traditional Mostar master silversmiths - which welcomes the guest at the very entrance to the building, drawing them into the world of the "Orient", into the world of unforgettable tastes, smells and the best view of the most beautiful bridge in the world!
