At the University of Mostar, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is an independent educational institution, which opened its door in the year 2005. Tradition and heritage form an essential part of contemporary perceptions of the University, and as such the new identity needed to strike a balance between old and new, innovation and tradition. Shift was given the task to create an identity that is contemporary but timeless at the same time. The faculty initiates great projects, such as the student radio, television and news portals. These activities formed the basis of the implementation of the rebranding, which also included the logo redesign and the design of a large graphic standard manual. Fixed explicit requirements regarding the design of a new logo by the dean and his associates were due to legal limitations not to change the statute of the institution, or the part that refers to the description of the trademark. The statue said that the trademark is the Glagolitic letter "vede" which means "to know". For us it was both a limiting factor but also a great challenge. The first step was to compare the characters of round and square Glagolitic script, concrete sign "vede". In square Glagolitic it was clear that it could be carried out with a special construction, two Latin letters "F" the initials of the institution or part of the already recognized verbal identity. A safe color scheme was chosen, an already tested combination of blue and silver color that are part of architectural elements of the newly constructed building. With a graphic standard manual we created the basic standards for the use of the new logo.
