Narenta is a travel agency based in Basel, Switzerland. The focus of the agency is the provision of organised tours to the Herzegovina region.
Faced with the challenge of explaining what Narenta stands for to a market of potential clients - travellers - Shift sought to strategically communicate to the Swiss target market an offer that promotes the experience of Croatian culture, while leveraging market expertise and the objectives of the client. Narenta is old name for Herzegovinian river Neretva, connecting the region of Herzegovina with the Adriatic Sea, thus we used a fluent typography that symbolizes the river flow. The conceptual ideas and style of typography were accepted by client very quickly. It is a playful and unusual identity incorporating the letter mark and icon of the sun, accompanied by a set of pictographs depicting recognizable motifs related to the cultural and historical heritage of the particular Herzegovina region. We designed a visual identity in keeping with the colour of the Neretva river, which is emerald-green. The colour palette of green shades always elicits affirmative responses and it is an emotionally positive colour. Green relates also to balance and harmony, whilst at the same time depicting a sense of movement and energy, suggesting that Narenta is active in adapting to the market and the needs of their clients.
Our designers also developed a range of applications, such as business cards, letterheads and corporate vehicles. These applications became the client’s advertisements, all effectively promoting Narenta as reliable and modern travel agency.
